Any boat which has a sail and is powered by the wind
can be classified as a sail boat. Consequently, a diverse
group of boats are called sail boats. This includes
small personal vessels all the way up to large yachts.
Sail boats can also perform a variety of uses such as
recreational and commercial all depending on what the
boat was designed to do.
In the past sail boats were used primarily for commercial
purposes because boats with motors were not available.
Today sail boats are rarely used for commercial purposes
and are almost exclusively used for recreation. |
